Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Long Beach, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Long Beach is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Long Beach is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This cozy joint serving Filipino food is one of my go-to when craving Filipino home-cooked food. I don't usually eat Filipino food unless it's made by my family, however, this joint is pretty close. The 2 side combo plate with lechon kawali - crispy pork belly, and dinuguan, a savory stew with pig ear and meat simmered in a rich, spicy dark gravy of pig blood, garlic, chili, and vinegar over white rice is as close to authentic like how my family makes it. I loved the pork belly for the crispy skin. The dinuguan, often referred to as "chocolate meat" is rich and savory and has unique flavors.

Authentic filipino food restaurant. Food is flavorful. Great price for a combo. I ordered the pork belly with rice and noodles. Very good but I wish they served it with a fried egg on top. Other than that i'd come back again. They have parking and restrooms.
